What is MomPlex?
MomPlex is a coworking space designed for moms.
We have a cozy coffee shop set up with wifi and handcrafted coffee. You can work on your business, school, or just scroll Facebook while taking a break from your kiddos.
Just down the hall, we have a fully staffed childcare. Your kids can play, learn, and make new friends all while still in the same building as you! You are welcome to peak in and see how they are doing anytime you would like.
Besides being a coworking space, MomPlex offers regular events and classes, like yoga, dance, business, marketing, and crafts. You can see our full event schedule here.
Where are you located, when are you open?
MomPlex is located at 1644 S. Lindsay Rd in Gilbert, inside the Discovery Community Church. On the south side of the building (Please use the childcare entrance).
Our hours are currently Monday – Friday 8am-4pm
Is the coffee really free?
Yep, we have all the coffee.
Moms are able to customize their drink with a choice of 3 types of milk (whole milk, soy, or almond), and about 6 different flavors. We also have tea.
What activities and classes are available?
Every Thursday morning at 9:30am, Gretchen Seeck of Grateful Yogini leads our members in an hour-long beginner-friendly yoga session. Throughout the month, we host a series of different classes, such as: Budgeting 101, Cutting the Grocery Bill In Half, Hip Hop Dance, Krav Maga, Self Defense, Paint and Coffee class, Vision Boarding, and even networking events for business owners to meet and make connections. We also have a New Mom Support Group every Thursday at 10:45am, held by birth and postpartum expert Bethany Sawhill.
Can I attend classes if I’m not a member?
Absolutely! You are welcome to drop in for any of our classes for a small fee. Fees are listed on the Facebook event page, but are usually between $5 and $15 per person.
Are you a part of the church? Is MomPlex a christian facility?
MomPlex rents space from Discovery Community Church, but we are not tied to them in any other way. Renting through a church helps keeps our costs down, so the savings get passed down to you.
How much does MomPlex cost?
MomPlex has several options depending on your needs.
We have first time visitor passes so that you can come check out our space starting at just $10.
We have drop in pricing for returning moms starting at $25 or we have 5 day punch cards so you can buy 5 drop in days at once for a discount.
Lastly, we have membership options for moms use use MomPlex on a weekly basis. Memberships range from 2 half days a week up to 5 full days a week. You can see our full membership pricing here or you can come in and talk to us about which option would work best for you.
How do punch cards work?
You can purchase punch cards anytime on our website or in person, as long as they are in stock. Each card has 5 “punches”. A “punch” is good for up to 2 kids at MomPlex for 4 hours. Punch cards do not cover things like classes or special events.
How do you hire childcare workers? Are they qualified/vetted?
Our childcare workers are all experienced, have fingerprint background clearance, and are cpr/first aid certified.
Mrs. V, our daycare director, has over 25 years of experience and is in charge of hiring and training everyone working in the childcare.
What are your ratios in childcare?
With kids under 3 years old, we have ratios of 1 teacher to 5 kids, although we aim for 1 to 3 or 4. With our 3 to 5 year olds, we keep a 1 to 8 ratio. When school is out, we keep our 5 year old and over class at no more than 12 kids to 1 teacher.
For comparison, here are the state ratios:
1 year olds 1:6
2 year olds 1:8
3 year olds 1:13
4 year olds 1:15
5+ years 1:20
What do the kids do all day?
Although the kids do educational activities, the structure of the classrooms is loose because moms tend to bring kids in and out randomly. Outside of our dedicated circle time and learning center time, the teachers focus on working with small groups of kids doing activities they are interested in, such as reading a book, working together to build something, or coloring worksheets.
We provide morning and afternoon snacks, and kids who stay all day bring their own lunches and have the option to take a midday nap.
Can I bring someone else’s kids with me?
Most of the time, the answer is no. Legal parents/guardians must be onsite if the kids are in care.
There are a few exceptions to this rule (nieces/nephews, nannying), so please ask a if this is something that applies to you!
Can I drop my kids off at MomPlex and leave?
No. MomPlex is not a traditional childcare. Parents/guardians must stay onsite. Think of childcare at a gym or at Ikea. Parents have to stay in the same building.
